Dofollow Rules

I checked my blog today and realised tht some of your comments were showing as nofollow still. I checked the rulings and found that only registered users were becoming nofollow.

I have since remove this option and now anyone will be nofollow although the following rules applies:

Registered users will be do follow immediately

non registered users will become dofollow after 2 days from posting

That’s an interesting way of doing it. I wonder if that will deter the drive-by spammers, as they’ll see nofollows?

I’ve never heard of that approach before to wait a couple of days, though I wonder what that is being done for? I think it’s maybe better to give nofollow unless they have left a few comments, then at that point they all become follow.

i posted a comment before and then read this post. Then i registered with same email as i posted but the previous posts won’t become do-follow.

So i Recommend make it stand out, this post - rather letting it buried post after posts.

I think your main link is no follow still. The comment or last blog post one is follow. Maybe the keyword one is follow after so many post.

  14. Pawan from MBA collage in india Says:

really like the idea of comment luv since it is a way to return the web back to being a collaboratives place. I think when you first put up your site you are excited and feel like your content will take over the world then you quickly realize that the only way to keep up there in search rankings is by building relationships with other webmasters.

This means spammer must wait two days before they got their backlink….but Google crawl a blog maximal one day after a new post, so the backlinks is useless.

  22. rasim from Download Free Remove Spyware Adware Says:

thanks for the keywordluv plugin. I wish more sites would follow.

  23. Noah from Internet Marketing Company Says:

Hmm, 2 days from posting? Interesting; is this just so you have time to catch any spam that may get through or something? The only other way I’ve seen it before is people require like 3 posts or something before a user’s comments switch over to dofollow, so I’m curious.

  24. Jonny from Leeds Wedding Photographer Says:

I have just added Comment and keywordluv to my wedding photography website so I am trying to understand. If a spammer is going to get a backlink after two days then it will still be worth his while, unless during that time you can go in and delete his comment.

I am a huge fan of keywordluv, but not the comment spam. I have keywordluv implemented on some of my blogs but it can be painstaking moderating all those comments. A tough task, but it also brings in a lot of good comments with relevant keywords as well.

  57. Peter Lancaster from digital printing Says:

Dofollow and nofollow is a handy tool to have. I guess spammers will always find a way around whatever we try to stop them, and the nofollows will deter some or at least slow them up a bit. I only block those links that I suspect as leading to spammy sites as that can damage my SEO rankings. I don’t try to use them to ’sculpt’ sites as they say that is not considered a good thing to do anymore. There is so much to keep up with online and most of us just want some conversation with those with similar interests to us.
